Welcome to this edition of our monthly newsletter. Up and down the UK this summer Medieval Knights will be battling it out at jousting tournaments and events hosted at some of the UK's finest castles. Why not enjoy a medieval day out this summer, suitable for all age groups fun-filled jousting events will keep you entertained as you cheer on your favourite knight.
Travel back 600 years at Bolton Castle and discover all about military life in the early 1300s. With displays of arms, archery competitions and knight demonstrations you will learn all about medieval weaponry and armour before experiencing the excitement and drama of a full foot tournament.

A spectacular battle during July and August will be taking place when Sir Sam invites French knights to partake in a joust.

CONISBROUGH CASTLE
During July meet Gilbert Savage the medieval executioner or see what life was like in a medieval castle, dress up as 'Robin Hood'.
What's On
Visit Leeds Castle during July for a range of spectacular events including, meeting the wildlife warden and learning about the black swans, enjoy the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in our open air classical concert or watch The Lord Chamberlain’s Men revive the traditions of an Elizabethan theatre.
Gladiators will be visiting Caldicot Castle on the 27th and 28th August and will be giving training demonstrations in the morning followed by sharp weapon display, then Gladiator bouts in the afternoon as well as roman military life living history running parallel with craft talks and demonstrations.

On the 27th and 28th July Skipton Castle will be stepping back in time to 1193 when it was interrupted by the unexpected arrival of the legendary Queen Eleanor, mother of King Richard's the Lion Heart to raise money for King Richard ransom. See what life in the 12th century castle.
